Operations Manager

Job Description

Experienced Operations Manager needed to help set-up and oversee a new US manufacturing and distribution operation in St. Lawrence County.    

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee US operations including manufacturing, logistics, and inventory management
  • Purchase materials, plan inventory and oversee warehouse efficiency
  • Work closely with Canadian headquarters to keep US and Canadian operations well alligned
  • Drive innovation and process improvements
  • Perform quality controls and monitor production KPIs
  • Develop and maintain vendor relationships
  • Manage staff at the US manufacturing and warehouse facility
  • Will require travel to Canadian Headquarters which is located in Ottawa, Canada

Compensation:

  • Salary to be negotiated based on successful applicant’s skill set and experience (we can set a range here based on industry standard for this type of position)
  • Bonus:  annual bonus paid out as part of company profit sharing program
  • Benefits:  TBD (we’d like to offer health benefits if its possible, but haven’t looked into it yet for our US operations)

Job Requirements

Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Must have good leadership skills and lead through setting a positive example
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for maintaining quality relationships both within the company and with external contacts. People always come first!
  • Good understanding of Logistics and the ability to work with complicated systems
  • Time management – be able to identify and prioritize time for high impact tasks
  • Self-Starter – able to manage operations with little supervision from head office, and take initiative to drive innovation and improvement
  • Understanding of import/export regulations and procedures
  • Strong computer skills are required – all systems are managed through software, so this is very important

Education and Experience: 

  • No specific education required.  Some post secondary education is an asset, specifically a Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field
  • 3+ years of management experience
  • 3+ years working in a logistics related field
  • Warehousing, shipping and receiving experience, either direct or as a Manager
