Job Description
The Development Authority of the North Country (Authority) is accepting applications for a position in their Water Quality Division. The Water Quality Operator serves as the Chief Operator/Operator of Record of multiple small water and wastewater systems. The Water Quality Operator works independently, has some contact with customers, and has specifically assigned duties and responsibilities that require licensing and experience. This position requires extensive day travel in service area in a Development Authority vehicle. . The Authority provides water and wastewater operation services to communities in Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence Counties.
Compensation
$46,809 - 456,171 for qualified candidates. Additional compensation may be considered for well qualified candidates.Job Requirements
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
- Applicants must possess a high school diploma and valid NYS Driver License.
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Knowledge of NYS water and wastewater guidelines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong skills in plumbing, electrical and carpentry
- Ability to read system design prints
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to work independently and possess excellent organizational skills
- Ability to be creative and flexible
- Must meet the training and certification requirements for confined space entrant, confined space attendant, and confined space rescue in accordance with the Authority Health and Safety Manual.
Professional Certification/Licenses:
- New York State Department of Environmental Conservation 2A wastewater certification required
- New York State Department of Health C, D and/or IIA Water Licenses preferred
Experience:
- Minimum five years directly related experience in water/wastewater treatment operations
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be deemed acceptable
