Agency

St. Lawrence County IDA , Civic Development Corporation

The St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce was formed in 1968. Its purpose is to develop, coordinate and implement plans and programs to further the growth of economic development and tourism in St. Lawrence County, New York, specifically, and the North Country, generally. The designated Tourism Promotion Agent in the County, the Chamber showcases opportunities for visitors all throughout New York State and beyond, linking people to local businesses and other resources within the County.
This financing will be used in conjunction with a $10,000 SeaComm Federal Credit Union Line of Credit to assist the Chamber with a number of initiatives such as hosting International and Regional Special Events, providing cost savings services such as health and vision coverage for individuals under new ACA regulations, and financing opportunities through the Revolving Loan Fund (assisting businesses with start-up or growth funding). The St. Lawrence County Chamber applied for financial assistance in the form of a short-term, working capital loan to assist
with expenses as it embarks on a membership campaign. A decrease in both Chamber membership and in-Chamber insurance program use has created a short-term financing need for the balance of 2014. The Chamber plans to increase its membership and adjust its operational costs over the next two years to ensure its ability to move forward as the primary
tourism-promoting entity in St. Lawrence County.
