Company Overview:

Canexsys specializes in designing and manufacturing products for the telecom sector using various technologies: circuit boards, injection molding, sheet metal, mechanical assembly, etc. This role and compensation for this role is heavily-weighted towards a candidate with extensive previous experience in injection molding as a mold technician and/or process technician. A critical team member is moving on, and we need someone to fill his shoes.

Position Overview:

Canexsys is looking for a Senior Molding Technician. The scope of this position is quite broad, and we intend to find a candidate who comes with extensive injection molding experience. We will tailor the scope of the position to the candidate. Our molding operations are moderately simple, and this is a good opportunity for advancement if you are already an experienced Molding Technician. Above all, you must love a big challenge!

We need:

  • Extensive experience in injection molding: review the broad skillsets required in the Qualifications and Skills section, you need a good base knowledge to manage these demands even if you don’t have 100% of the base knowledge.
  • An appetite for challenge: open to advancing our internal knowledge base, and a focus on improving our internal procedures and skillsets.
  • A focus on safety and mold protection approaches: since the particular molds, machines, peripherals will be new to you, a focus on slow, deliberate work and testing.
  • Knowing what you don’t know: your Director, Mfg Operations can help you a lot with areas in which you have less experience, but you must be able to self-assess where your weaknesses are.

Initial Responsibilities:

Immediately manage moderately simple molding operations consisting of 3 molding machines (169T, 259T) and hundreds of injection molds. 60 mold changes in 2024.

Qualifications and Skills:

Perform mold changes using approved rigging techniques (mandatory).

Perform production startups (mandatory).

Perform mold trials (mandatory).

Effectively train and manage operators for quality defects, flash trimming, etc. (mandatory).

Understand molding theory, including but not limited to velocity vs pressure control, temperature, processing conditions, gate seal, troubleshooting defects through scientific molding techniques (mandatory).

Mechanical aptitude: understanding machine mechanics, experience working with machines (mandatory).

Perform interchangeable insert changes (asset).

Troubleshoot molding defects (asset).

Use protective systems, including but not limited to ejection confirmation switches, mold protect (asset).

Troubleshoot and maintain peripheral equipment: dryers, mold heaters, pneumatics (asset).

Troubleshoot heater bands (asset).

Troubleshoot hot runners (asset).

Record keeping of work orders, and effective process setup controls (asset)

 

Reports to:

Director, Manufacturing Operations, also Plant Manager.

Compensation:

This posting ranges $25.00-$31.00/HR. (Canexsys publishes the maximum wage for a perfect candidate having very senior-level experience and all of the Qualifications/Skills – Compensation reduced accordingly based on strength of candidate).

Job Requirements

Minimum Previous Experience:

  • Previous experience in injection molding mandatory. We need someone who can quickly learn our molding machines.
  • Expect to be tested on your knowledge during the interview, and during your probationary period. We prefer to be honest, and say that this role requires strong experience that shows in short order.
