Motor Equipment Operator

Job Description

Duties of the position: An employee in this class operates a variety of road building and construction equipment, including rollers, tractors, loaders, sweepers, pavement stripers, single axle trucks, and four wheel drive snow plows.

The incumbent is required to perform recurring manual duties related to operation of the equipment and other duties as assigned when not operating equipment.

Additionally, an incumbent performs routine maintenance including lubrication and maintenance of equipment fluid levels.

The work is performed under general supervision with leeway allowed for exercise of independent judgment in carrying out details of the work. Supervision may be exercised over the work of laborers depending on the project. The incumbent does related work as required.

Compensation

Salary: $41,065 with excellent benefits as described below Benefits: Generous vacation and sick time allowance, Public Service Loan Forgiveness eligibility and the option to enroll in the St. Lawrence County’s health insurance or opt out of the insurance and receive a buyout in the amount of $2,000 for single coverage or $4,000 for family.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EITHER:
Graduation from high school, possession of a high school
equivalency diploma, or possession of an Individual Education Plan diploma

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Must obtain a Class A OR B CDL within Twelve (12) months of appointment, if required by employing agency.
