Business Advisor

Job Description

The Business Advisor provides a comprehensive range of small business-based assistance including:

  • One-to-one client counseling in the area of business plan development.
  • Analyzes, prepares and structures financial statements, such as cash flow projections, income statements and sources and uses statements.
  • Provides assistance in automated and manual record keeping systems and assists clients with market related issues such as advertising, promotional functions, market surveys, and other related areas.
  • Client will be assisted with disaster recovery, procurement and certifications for MWBE and or veteran status for those who wish to obtain these certifications.
  • This advisement can be provided via in-person, email, zoom or other virtual meeting.
  • Implements and/or participates in training sessions sponsored by the SBDC and provides follow-up services as necessary to attendees.
  • Sessions are in many forms including long-term classroom situations, single and multi-day conferences where relevant topics are discussed in open forums, and in other public situations. Virtual platforms can also be used to provide trainings, workshops, conferences.
  • Gathers written feedback from clients who have received assistance for the purposes of program refinement and promotional purposes.
  • Performs clearinghouse services gathering information from clients and other interested individuals and refers individuals to outside providers when helpful.
  • Pertinent information will be recorded in the SBDC NEOSERRA system on each business applicant.
  • Confidentiality and storing of all hard copy and or electronic files will be maintained according to SBA guidelines and / or SBDC rules and regulations.
  • Business Advisor must attend annual NYSBDC staff conference and or other required professional development deemed important to the quality to services provide to the small business community. All professional development must be reviewed and approved by center director.

Review begins immediately and will continue until the position is filled.

Compensation

$52,000 to $55,000/annual

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in the area of business, management, finance, economics or related field.
  • The position requires no less than one year’s experience in a private sector business or related public technical assistance environment.

Prior to a final offer of employment, the selected candidate will be required to submit to a background check including, but not limited to, employment verification, educational and other credential verification, and criminal background check.
