Job Description
The DDCR is responsible for developing, organizing, and directing Hospice’s strategic fundraising and community relations plan, including, the major gifts program, annual appeal, planned giving, special events and capital campaigns. The Director works closely with the Executive Director and the Board of Directors in all development and fundraising endeavors.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Grow a major gifts program including identification, cultivation and solicitation of major donors.
- Manage grant seeking including research, proposal writing, and reporting requirements.
- Develop a comprehensive communication plan to promote the organization to its donors and maximize public awareness of the fundraising activities of the organization.
- Build the planned giving program with a focus on deferred gifts such as bequest expectancies.
- Direct the annual appeal program, including mailings and annual fundraising drives.
- Direct capital campaigns and other major fundraising drives.
- Plan and execute fund raising special events.
- Conduct prospect research.
- Work closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
- Make public appearances and speaking engagements to share information about Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley with the community.
- Monitor and analyze fundraising data to evaluate performance.
- Staff the Board Development Committee.
- Oversee fundraising database and tracking systems.
- Oversee creation of publications to support fund raising activities.
- Maintain gift recognition programs.
- Demonstrate professional conduct at all times.
- Perform other related duties as requested and necessary to meet department goals.

Compensation
$55,000 – $65,000Job Requirements

- be organized and exhibit “follow through” on tasks and goals
- display a positive attitude, show concern for people and community, demonstrate presence, self-confidence, common sense and good listening ability.
- have a Bachelor’s degree and experience in professional fundraising, marketing and public relations or demonstrated skills in those areas.
- be proficient with Microsoft Office, donor databases, web-based applications and use of technology to augment and enhance fundraising efforts.
- be comfortable with public speaking and be able to effectively articulate Hospice’s mission and services to prospective donors, board members, staff and community.
