St. Lawrence County enjoys some of the lowest cost, most reliable, green electricity in North America. Abundant water, land, and timber resources make the County a leader in renewable energy production and utilization.
A Hydropower Powerhouse
St. Lawrence County is well-known for its substantial hydropower capabilities, best represented by the St. Lawrence-Franklin D. Roosevelt Power Project in Massena, one of the New York Power Authority’s major hydroelectric dams. Additionally, the vast wood supply of the Adirondacks and other North Country forests provides a nearly limitless amount of biomass for renewable energy production and use.
